Pre-primary - No more than one year of lessons

Southern Utah String Festival - March 4, 2017

The Southern Utah String Festival is set for Sat., Mar. 4, 2017 at the Canyon View High School in Cedar City, UT. 

Registration is now open for both teachers and students!
Parents can register (submit forms and payment) directly from the website: http://southernutahstringfestival.org

The registration deadline is Sat., Dec. 17, 2016 (final registration will close Jan. 31, 2017)
Register early before all the holiday hustle and bustle and avoid the $10 late fee!

RECITAL - NOVEMBER 6

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 6 - CELLO RECITAL 

THE IMPORTANCE OF PERFORMING 
GOAL A - Having an outcome for all the hard work a student is pouring into their instrument is important.  With out a goal in mind a student can quickly become disenchanted with the instrument.  A performance is something a student can strive for and look forward to.  I always say " The key to success is motivation"  performance is a motivation

GOAL B -  PERFORMING IS LEARNING. When a student is preparing for a recital they are learning stage etiquette, audience etiquette, stage set up, how to deal with performance anxiety, how they personally react to being on stage, recovering from mistakes, listening skills, how to perform under pressure, and perform with others.  
  
GOAL C - Performance time is alway a good time for students to receive encouragement from  teacher, family and peers.  This will give them more drive for the next performance and encourage them to work toward the next performance.  

GOAL D -  Students can learn from constructive criticism given during a performance.  This will help students to learn and play better, and more important except corrections and learn from it.   


I do not want a stuffy serious formal event.  I like to encourage students to perform regularly for parents and friends.  This is a time of learning and no one is judging this performance.  

RECITAL WILL BE HELD AT THE CEDAR VIEW LDS CHAPEL - 1925 WEST 320 SOUTH 

This chapel is straight East of my home if you could drive straight east.  From Cove drive you will go east on Cody drive until it intersects 1850 West.  Travel north on 1850 W.  until you arrive at chapel.  

Two recital times - hope to divide students evenly between 5:00 and 6:30





Group/ Ensemble Week

On the week of October 24, January 16  , and February 14  We will not not Monday Lessons and we will have special group lessons.  I will keep you in the group lesson for  40 minutes.  During those lessons we will work on ensemble music.  I hope to have all groups (trio, quartet, and quintet) play in recital the end of February.  If prepared well I will also sign up ensembles for String Music Festival on March 4

* If you are not on this list you are a pre-twinkle student or an Adult and I did not assign you to an ensemble.  You are welcome to attend a group class with any group  We will spend the first 20 minutes of each group lesson on a simple song that we will play as a group on November 6 - recital.

Suzuki Strings - Wednesday at 5pm

Every week on Wednesday the Suzuki Strings meet at SUU music building.  They will start on Wednesday September 7.

Their first concert is a work shop in November
